Kossman Contracting Company, Inc. is a Houston-based company
engaged in vegetative erosion control in the State of Texas. The company
was organized in 1984 by Robert Kossman and incorporated in 1990. Robert
Kossman remains the owner of this successful and continually growing business.
The main goal of the company is to successfully service clients for a
fair price and maintain a positive reputation in the construction industry.
The company has been an active member of the Houston Contractors Association
since 1990, the Hydro Turf Planters Association since 2000 and is a certified
small business with the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority and Texas
Highway Department.

Contracting Company, Inc.
has evolved into one of the most productive and efficient seeding contractors
due to its state of the art technology. With new and continually updated
equipment including 3,000 gallon Finn Hydro-Seeders as well as Finn 1,100
gallon Hydro-Seeders, clients are assured of quality performance as well
as expedience and dependability. Maintenance is performed in-house by
well trained mechanics to ensure efficiency and continued productivity.

This award is named after an employee who exhibited extraordinary performance while suffering from the effects of HIV and remained an employee with the company until his death. STOCKHOLDERS: Robert Kossman graduated from Grand Valley State University in Michigan with a Major in Psychology and Special Education. He went on to complete a Graduate Degree in Elementary School Administration at Texas A & M University. After working in the construction industry for several years, he formed Kossman Contracting Company in 1984. Robert Kossman has served on the Specification Committee for the Texas Highway Department and remains a member of Houston Contractors Flood Control, Education and Government Relations Committee. He is also a committee member of the Hydro Turf Planters Association Specification and Certification Committee.

Robert Kossman, President/Owner: Sixteen years experience in vegetative erosion control. Member of Harris County Flood Control Contractor Committee, Specifications Committee for Texas Department of Transportation, Houston Contractors Association and Houconpac. In 1999, was responsible for implementation of the Small Business Enterprise Program (SBE) for the Texas Department of Transportation. Previously employed by R.M. Hardison Company, Inc. which turfed the Astrodome in the 1960's.

COMPANY INVOLVEMENT: Because children's causes are very important to Kossman Contracting, we volunteer and contribute to the Special Olympics, Harris County Boot Camp Workforce Colliation (CWC) as well as offering summer employment to inner city youths.
